Welcome back to Why Ontario Tech? Today we'll discuss our (many) partnerships, what they mean for you and how to make the most of them!

1. Oh so many partners

We have—literally—hundreds of community and industry partners. Over 500 to be more precise. So, this means there are nearly endless options for you when it comes to hands-on learning in the field and building network connections. No matter what field of study you wish to pursue, a community/industry partnership will be available to you. 

2. How to connect with them

So how do you connect with our partners? All of our programs have built-in experiential learning opportunities through which you can connect with our partners. For example, during a Practicum Placement, you are matched with a community partner for your 100 hours. During these hours, you will meet new people, make new connections and learn about the field (and if it is a good fit for you). We also offer co-ops, internships, Capstone projects and more that all connect you with our partners. 

3. Why it matters 

Networking creates job opportunities for you post-graduation. While that may feel far away, time goes by faster than you think and having these connections will be invaluable when you begin your job search. Hands-on experiences within your field of study also provide insight into your program's fitness and potential career options. Some students return from their experiential learning more confident in their future pathway, while others return and decide it is not the right fit for them. Both are informative and can allow you to take appropriate action for your future.
