Name: Safa Nazir
Program of Study: Game Development and Entrepreneurship, Minoring in Game Production Management
Year of study: Third Year
Why did you choose your program?
I’ve loved video games since I was a child and I was always curious about the programming and design that goes into developing a game. I was so happy to find out that this university offered this program, I can’t see myself being in any other program.
What do you want to do after you graduate?
I would love to work in a small indie game studio as a designer or a project manager.
What is your favourite thing about Ontario Tech?
The community. Yes, it sounds really cheesy but it’s true! Everyone on campus is so friendly and kind, and I always feel safe and supported here.
What is your favourite can’t-miss Ontario Tech event?
Definitely GameCon. This is a year-end expo that is held for all Game Development students to showcase the games they’ve worked so hard on. It’s a lot of fun and I highly recommend everyone to come, especially if you love playing games!
What is your favourite past Student Speak blog?
Like every university student—I love memes. My favourite blog post definitely has to be “Memes you need to see if you’re a university student.” It always makes me laugh, and I suggest that everyone at Ontario Tech read it. (It’s even better to read if you’re feeling stressed about school work!)
What is your favourite thing to do in the Durham Region?
Eating food and hanging out with friends! There’s so many different places so you’ll never get bored.
What is your favourite Durham Region restaurant?
Kenzo Ramen in downtown Oshawa and Osmow’s! I could eat there EVERY day.
What would you tell first-year you, in one sentence?
You’re capable of so much more than you think!
