Every school year has its highs and its lows. I was so unsure about which would outweigh the other, but I gotta tell you, it’s been nothing but highs!
The Truth (Haha!)
Okay, maybe I’m over exaggerating. Of course there have been lows, but that’s what life is all about! Midterms have been draining the life out of me, and I'm trying not to stress. It’s a different kind of stress compared to high school, I just have to study a lot more, but it’s about things that I care about! I chose the biological science program because I love learning about science. It’s just... a lot to take on at once.
But that’s okay! That’s where the highs come in. Ahhh, the beautiful highlights of university. Getting to study with friends, making new friends while getting help, like at Science Café (every Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.)! The studying is all worth it when the good grades start rolling in.
More highlights include the simple joy of having my own life. I'm making decisions on my own and following through with them. As the school year continues, I feel as if I have matured significantly so far. I have more goals that I actually follow through with, like waking up early and studying between classes. I have gained confidence while at Ontario Tech, and that is something I’m so happy about!
Let me tell you, the only lows of my school year so far involve studying. The inevitable event of studying is BLAH especially with so many courses; at least I enjoy them, even though they are a lot of work! That’s where time management comes into play, and my time management skills have gotten so much better since I’ve started at Ontario Tech, so things are slowly falling into place.
The highs definitely outweigh the lows so far. Everything about Ontario Tech makes life so much easier, including all of the extra help available, which takes some stress away. I haven’t gone insane yet, I always have a smile on my face and my confidence is at a new high. I can’t wait for Winter Break though... definitely going to enjoy relaxing!
