Ontario Tech University graduate story: research was my motivation - and got me first place!

Andrea Brown

mcja_2014I finished my undergraduate degree in Criminology and Justice at Ontario Tech University in June 2014. I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Criminology at Ontario Tech University. I initially chose Ontario Tech University because of its technology-enriched learning environment.

Over the years, I have developed a strong connection with the staff, students and various faculty members of the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSSH). My undergraduate years at Ontario Tech University were filled with many valuable learning experiences. My most memorable experience as an undergraduate student was in fall of 2013. I was enrolled in Criminology and Justice Integrating Projects with Dr. Phillip Shon as my professor. Under his remarkable mentorship, I wrote a research paper that I later presented and won the first place undergraduate paper award at the annual meeting of the Midwestern Criminal Justice Association in Chicago (September, 2014). Having such an encouraging experience as an undergraduate motivated me to further my educational endeavours.
